When I Get to Play with Colors and Prints
A look back at pieces from 2011/12 where I got to fully play with color and print; no boundaries, no rules.

Where My Colors Actually Came From
These are some of the pieces from my work back in 2011. I got to create my own color palette, and I picked my color combinations from nature. And trust me I didn't copy my ideas from any other source. I was even told to "see and get ideas" but I just couldn't do it. For me, that was cheating. It was great for creativity, not always great for business. So, I came up with my own color combinations, fabric mixes, and sometimes even the cuts. I was ecstatic about the mustard/stee

Plates, Spoons and Zero Apologies
At Dandy School of Fashion Designing in Lahore, we had an assignment that stopped everyone in their tracks — create a non-wearable garment. No rules about what it had to be made of. Just that it couldn't be worn. My mind went straight to a skirt. And for some reason — silver paper plates. My instructor looked at the silver and told me to use another color. So, I wrapped every plate in blue paper and kept going. The design used triangles, circles, spirals and weaving, all made

Final Collection- Dandy School Of Fashion Design, Lahore 2009
This was our final project fashion show at Dandy School of Fashion Designing, Lahore. To be honest one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Each student has to create three looks: daywear, cocktail & evening wear. My theme was Sufism, its flowing forms, earthy tones and quite spiritual elegance translated into fabric the way I understood. The black and white striped piece was the mock version of my daywear design. The rest went on the runway. Looking at these photos

Eid Dawat 2025
Hosting for Eid is my favorite excuse to cook everything at once. This spread was for the Friend's Eid gathering in 2025, and as always; nothing on this table followed a strict recipe. Chicken fried rice, chicken pasta, a Korean inspired dish made with ready made kabobs__ my own interpretation of course. The fruit chaat was my version of fruit, pasta, and chickpeas with Greek yogurt, sweetened with a red date and sugarcane sugar. And to keep it classic, paratha rolls with chi

Garlic Bread & Spanakopita
The top photo is my homemade version of garlic bread! simple, straightforward and made my way. The bottom is my attempt at Spanakopita. I had it for the first time at the Bread And Roses Strike Centennial Festival in Boston. I loved it so much that I came home and tried to recreate it. The phyllo roses on the top were my own little touch. It turned out pretty close to what I remembered. Some dishes you discover at a restaurant. Others find you at a festival in Boston.

Dorsa's Birthday Cakes
The bottom two photos are from 2017 when my niece Dorsa turned 5. My very first attempt at a layered cake. Her reaction put me on cloud nine and it became her favorite birthday cake for years. The top collage is from her 14th birthday. Same love, new flavors, more opinions. I didn't get a chance to ask her which one she preferred, but I'm sure she will let me know!
