When I Get to Play with Colors and Prints

Back in 2011/12, when I worked at Suhaib Gulzar, it was a small setup which was the perfect opportunity for me. Because when you work with a big company or organization, you're limited to certain boundaries. There, I was free to design because they were expanding their lines. I got to pick the fabrics, designs, cut lines, and contrast. It was like an open canvas, and I got to paint or throw colors however I liked. And that's exactly what I did.
A lot of times, fashion designers create a new thing out of something else. They use the elements, but it ends up totally different. For me, I like to keep the thing as original as possible. So, after picking these printed fabrics, I designed something where the fabric doesn't lose its originality.
The top is the wild floral print at the bottom, with a velvet neck and stripes on the cuffs, with white thick thread running stitch.
The middle one was my favorite; the bold flowers, but in order to keep the whole print as it is, I added purple panels and sleeves. And I think the tie-dye dupatta compliments the top nicely.
And last but not least, the black and white chevron piece again, strong enough on its own. So I had a boat neckline and black frill at the bottom.
Looking at these pieces, I like what I did. I think I would like to wear those pieces for sure.
